At altitude, there’s nowhere for inefficiency to hide. Humidity drops. Pressure shifts. Circulation slows. And your skin responds immediately.
When I started traveling frequently, it became very clear, very fast: skin doesn’t need more when it’s under stress. It needs the right kind of support.
When you fly, your skin is dealing with three real, measurable challenges:
- Accelerated moisture loss: Cabin air dramatically increases transepidermal water loss. Hydration doesn’t just evaporate, it escapes.
- Barrier destabilization: Low humidity and physiological stress weaken the skin barrier, making it harder for skin to retain anything you apply.
- Hydration that doesn’t hold: Water alone isn’t enough. Without the right delivery system, hydration flashes off long before landing.
Once I understood this, it was clear to me that formulation couldn’t be about trends. The nonnegotiable became how the skincare would function. That meant choosing ingredients for how they perform when conditions are stacked against your skin.
Every JetSet Botanicals formula was shaped by what travel actually demands:
- Strengthening the skin barrier so hydration has something to anchor to
- Reducing transepidermal water loss instead of endlessly layering products
- Delivering hydration that stays put in low-humidity, high-stress environments
For hydration, we utilize Tremella mushroom, a polysaccharide capable of holding up to 400× its weight in water, paired with systems that help bind that moisture to the skin so it doesn’t disappear in dry cabin air.
Barrier support comes from squalane, meadowfoam seed oil, and phytosterols. These are biomimetic lipids that reinforce the barrier, improve moisture retention, and help prevent water loss while skin is under pressure.
To keep skin calm and functional, we use Centella asiatica, Niacinamide, and Allantoin. These ingredients known to support barrier repair, reduce sensitivity, and help skin adapt instead of overreact.
And because travel stresses more than just the surface of the skin, we formulate with protective and adaptogenic ingredients like Ectoin, Ashwagandha, and Ginseng, alongside Sea Buckthorn to support lipid replenishment and overall skin vitality.
This is how JetSet Botanicals delivers hydration, barrier support, and TEWL reduction that actually holds up at altitude, not skincare that only performs under perfect, ground-level conditions.
Travel really cut through the noise, eliminated buzz words and stripped the formulation of our skincare down to function. Science gave it structure. And JetSet Botanicals is where the two met. If it works at 38,000 feet, it’ll work anywhere. That’s not branding. That’s the test. IRL.
IYKYK. And your skin will thank you.

P.S. Travel has a way of simplifying everything. When space is limited, only what truly works earns a place. That’s the test I use and I’ll unpack that next week.
