I'm not gonna lie. On a long haul flight, I'm probably going to throw on an overnight hydrating mask while I catch some Z's. I'm not knocking that. But it's not the final answer to mitigating damage to skin that's been hit by cabin conditions. And, if you're a man, you likely will not be donning the overnight mask in public. Once you’re in the air, your skin has entered a different operating environment. Humidity drops. TEWL increases. The barrier’s job becomes simple and demanding: hold onto what you already gave it during prep. That’s what in-flight skincare is for. Maintenance. Maintaining your pre-flight preparation. At altitude, the goal is to slow loss, reinforce the barrier, and keep skin comfortable enough to recover properly once you land. Anything applied mid-flight should support that objective. That’s where JetSet Botanicals comes in.
I don’t wash my face on planes. Ever. That’s non-negotiable. I’m not stripping my barrier in a dry, pressurized environment with recycled water and hoping for the best. Eww. What I do focus on is maintaining the work I’ve already done. If I apply anything mid-flight, it’s because it serves a specific purpose:
- Reinforcing the barrier
- Reducing ongoing water loss
- Keeping skin comfortable enough to recover later
This is why JetSet Botanicals formulas are designed the way they are. Ingredients like Tremella, Ectoin, Squalane, Phytosterols, and Sea Buckthorn aren’t there to create a moment. They’re there to help skin hold its ground when the cabin environment is actively working against it.
On overnight flights, a hydrating mask can absolutely help but only if the skin underneath has been properly prepared and supported. A mask alone can’t fix a compromised barrier. It can only slow the loss. That distinction matters.
JetSet Botanicals isn’t built on the idea that one product, one step, or one moment solves travel skin. It’s built around preparation before flight, support during flight, and recovery after landing.
In-flight care sits firmly in the middle. Useful. Necessary. But not the whole story.
If your skin arrives depleted, irritated, or inflamed, the problem didn’t start at 38,000 feet and it won’t be solved there either.
IYKYK. And your skin will thank you.

P.S. Landing is when the real work begins. Next week, we’ll unpack post-flight skin, how to reset, repair, and let everything settle properly once you’re back on the ground.
